The Environmental Sustainability Committee at Fort Richmond Collegiate is starting off the year well, with lots of new goals! From fundraising, we are finally able to pull through with some of our goals. Our main goal is to heighten the school’s awareness of what is going on in the environment. As our city, country, and world are emphasizing sustainable practices, we, as a school community, must also contribute. Although our contribution may seem minor, we are in the process of brining in change in and around Fort Richmond Collegiate. Some past projects of ours, aside from the fundraising, include the expansion of the school’s recycling program, reducing paper consumption, and promoting the reuse of environmentally friendly tote bags. We would like to see students integrating environmental consciousness into their daily lives.
